Retirement is a time for catching up with fascinating things you didn't have time for earlier. When those things are far away places that you have heard and read about for most of your life, then your fascination level is way way up there. In September Bonnie and I took our first trip to Europe, by way of a Rick Steves 10 day tour of Venice, Florence, and Rome. We took more than 1400 pictures, ate some pretty good food, and saw lots of Renaissance art and architecture.
We would like to share some of what we saw and did. We hope you enjoy it, and if you’ve been to Italy before, we hope your memories will be refreshed.

We start with an overnight flight that gets us to Rome. And then on to Venice via a very nice train ride. The frecciargento glides along at over 100 mph and we arrive at Santa Lucia Station in Venice on time - about 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon.
